The Next Food Network Star Winner: Amy Finley
The Next Food Network Star Season 3 concluded tonight and it named San Diego’s AMY FINLEY as it’s winner. I was psyched because Amy was my pick for the last couple weeks. I was a little worried when she tried to quit a couple weeks back, I thought that might even work against her in the popular vote. I’m happy to say I was wrong.

The Gourmet Next Door prevailed and we’ll see Amy Finley’s new show on The Food Network come Fall 2007.
I know that there’s been talk about Amy leaving her husband, etc. but there was no evidence of the husband in tonight’s finale nor in the clips from Amy at home. She lives on a hippy-esque commune with her whole family so those kids are well looked after, noone worry about that. I don’t know what her personal sitch is and frankly, don’t give a damn. She’s not giving parenting or relationship advice, she’s cooking and I could care less if she was a seal clubber; she’s got a magnetic personality and I think she’ll make a good addition to the network.
Can we talk about how bloated the show was? This was as bad as an Idol finale with all the fluff thrown in. I did like seeing all the contestants back, even Jag. Anyone not think Jag and Paul are brokeback mountain’ing it? For reals, they’re so all over each other. I half expected Courtney Love to throw her shoe across the room and steal the spotlight from the love birds.
Marc Summers? Really? I was kind of upset to see him hosting the finale. Alton would have been a better choice, or just have the judges host the hour long broadcast.
Anyone else wish that Adrien would have been smothered by all those balloons? I can’t stand to hear him, see him, nothing. He’s so annoying. But luckily he’s had his own show on public access for three years now. Ugh.
Overall, I was so impressed with this show and it really did take over as my favorite summer cooking show. Top Chef has a lot to live up to if its going to fill the void left behind by The Next Food Network Star.
Congratulations Amy Finley, see you in the fall.

The only entertaining thing about the final was watching Paul and Jag’s interactions/flirtations in the background. Between Jag’s hand on Paul’s inner thigh at several points, to the holding hands, to the awkward “We’re in Love” statement by Paul that he retracted kinda sorta to the way Paul consoled Jag in the background after Amy was announced the winner, I’m pretty confident that there’s defintiely more than just moral support going on between them. Hopefully Paul’s support can help Jag work out his various demons, be he just platonic friend or (more likely) something more. Jag definitely has cooking talent, Paul has charm, and as Dan & Steve (winners of season 1 TNFNS) show, that kind of combination can be very successful.

Where’s all this speculation about
Amy’s personal life coming from?
Maybe he’s just camera-shy????

I am delighted to see Amy win the Next Food Network Star series. She is bright, witty, talented and does possess the “star” quality.

Our favorite food network starts are all trained in the culinary arts, as they should be as our instructors, so I think America got it right voting for Amy.

Rory Graduated from a much better Culinary school then Amy. People, lets look at all the facts before we judge. Thats why I’m starting to beleive the wrong person won. According to Rory’s bio she had much more expertise then Amy, it’s a show we see what they want us to see! I’m starting to think all of us were scammed into voting for Amy. The more I think about it. I have watched the show twice and Amy states twice that “her Show” as if she already won. Maybe thats why Rory looks so upset right before they open the envelope. Just my view on the whole thing.

Rory’s teeth are so awful and she is so annoying, I am glad she didn’t win! Go Amy!

BORING!!!
Sure am thinking there is something to the Jag rumors. Him and Paul were pretty much the only interesting thing going on in that hour, if you ask me.
Ducky, I know you like Amy…but I don’t think I will ever watch her show. I guess we will have to see how her show plays out, but from what I have seen so far, there is nothing compelling me to tune in.

Regarding the “speculation” about Amy’s personal life, if you will notice in the finale, she also is sans wedding ring for the first time….. That looks pretty final to me.

Paul & JAG in love? So what. I’m thankfull to see the last of JAG. He is so damaged I can’t envision him doing something as normal as cooking in a kitchen. His ego is so overblow everything and everyone pales beside his need. Even the food he prepared appeared insignificent he was so intent on demonstrating how great he was. Gone intoi the sunset. Whew.

Yeah a few comments here I am glad to see that amy won but really I am also kinda curious about her home situation as well. You know when she was on there show there was a scene when she was talking to who I thought it was her husband about how much she missed him and then in her little home video thing and in the crowd he was no where to be found so what if your camera shy that is your wife and I think that if they were still together he would have been there.

I just noticed that Amy lists her husband as one of three people she would like to invite to a dinner party (”if you could invite anybody…”) on the Food Network web site. Looked like a questionaire they all might have filled out prior to the competition (when she was still married?) the lack of sig. other in the finale made me curious!

I am so glad Amy won this competition. I wouldn’t have even watched the new show had Rory won. Every person I know personally voted for Amy, so I can see how she would have gotten a lot of votes nationwide.
Marc Summers - always love to see him on the air - did wonderfully as the host and we enjoyed the whole last episode - complete with all of the hubba la.
As far as the lover’s tryst going on during this show - I could have done with less of it. That’s why I choose the Food Network over the other networks - to escape the junk out there.
