COMIC-CON Scoop All Weekend

Comic-ConI leave in a mere 5 hours for sunny San Diego where I’ll probably see no sun or feel no summer loving as I’ll be spending all of my time inside the San Diego Convention Center with 200,000 of my closest geek friends.

COMIC-CON 2007 begins tomorrow and I’m there all weekend with GMMR and some other TV Bloggers for the biggest group of television panels a fan could dream of.

Want LOST scoop? Heroes Spoilers? Supernatural Hotties? Battlestar’s Final Season Spoiler? The dish on new shows like Pushing Daisies, Chuck, Bionic Woman, Reaper, Moonlight, Journeyman, and many more? Want a podcast chock full of these goodies? Well, keep checking back all weekend as I’ll try and post some updates each night.

Want to follow me all day, Thursday through Sunday while I try and get Lee Pace naked? Follow me on TWITTER! There’s also a Twitter panel on the right hand sidebar. Check back for updates throughout the day, all day, all weekend!

While I’m gone, please head on over to my new site… DUCKY DOES TV! I’m in the midst of moving all posts there so that will be Ducky’s new home very very very soon! Let me know what you think. I love the new layout and I’m still working on all the content so bear with me.

May the force be with you or something dorky like that!

BIONIC WOMAN TCA Panel: Washington Discussion

From Michael Ausiello’s BIONIC WOMAN TCA Panel live blog:

11:33 am: Regarding Isaiah Washington’s hiring, Smilovic says they “found the best actor for the role,” adding, “We believe in second chances.”

11:45 am: A reporter asks Smilovic whether Washington’s’s hiring shows any disrespect to the gay community. “Absolutely not,” he counters. “We embrace the gay community and we’re in no way making any judgments or statements about what was said or done [on Grey’s].”

11:46 am: Another reporter suggests one way to make Washington atone for his sins would be to make him kiss another dude on the show. Smilovic balks at the idea, claiming it would break down the fourth wall. Translation: Ask him again when the overnight ratings come in for the premiere.

God I hope that Michael was the one who asked that question. This is something I was hoping would be addressed and I’m glad someone had the balls to ask if this was a slap in the face to the gay viewers. I’m still very torn on how I feel about this.

Thanks to Alexis for the tip.

BIONIC WOMAN Casts Robin Sparkles Sister

According to TVGuide, NBC’s BIONIC WOMAN has finally recast the deaf (still?) sister of Jaime Sommers.

Robin Sparkles dirty little sister from Canada on How I Met Your Mother is the new sibling on the NBC sure to be mega-hit. LUCY HALE will take over the role from Arrested Developments Ann, Egg, Mae Whitman.

This casting news doesn’t make me shiver like yesterday’s casting of Isaiah Washington.

**UPDATE - According to Ausiello’s TCA Blog, the sister will no longer be deaf and she’s suddenly a big computer nerd as well.

BIONIC WOMAN Hires Homophobe and I Cry

Isaiah WashingtonWow, this actually made me throw up in my mouth a bit when I read it. Isaiah Washington is joining BIONIC WOMAN on NBC this fall for at least 5 episodes.

According to USAToday:

On Bionic, he’ll play an outsider with a mysterious agenda who is introduced early in the series and may either help the superpowered Jamie (Michelle Ryan, in the role first played by Lindsay Wagner) or take her down.

Washington has signed on for at least five episodes of the new drama, considered NBC’s strongest shot this fall, in a crop developed by former entertainment president Kevin Reilly, who has since moved to the same post at Fox.

Bionic Woman NBC

This actually makes me sad and sick. I had such huge high hopes for BIONIC WOMAN. The pilot is great and I love the reimagining of the show ala Battlestar. My gut tells me to boycott the show now. Am I over reacting? I need a few moments to breathe.

How do I address this at Comic-Con without ruining any chance of receiving any NBC or Bionic Woman information in the future? Ideas?

TV Podcast #11: Big Brother, SYTYCD, Burn Notice and more

We’re back… Podcast #11: Big Brother 8, Burn Notice, Psych, So You Think You Can Dance, Transformers, Rescue Me, Kathy Griffin, Porn, Prison, Ugly Betty, Comic-Con and more.

Duckyxdale GiveMeMyRemote Podcast

TV Podcast 11: Ducky and GMMR take a dip in the technical difficulties pool and come out swinging.

BIG BROTHER 8 has arrived and we’re obsessed. We talk spoilers, live feeds, and our favorites. What do we think about BURN NOTICE? PSYCH’s back on USA. KATHY GRIFFIN does gay porn and RESCUE ME forgets to rescue one of their own.

Do we need two karaoke shows? We dissect SPELLING BEE and DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE continues to dominate the summer and we talk about our new favorites.

A little TRANSFORMERS talk? Sure, just a bit. COMIC-CON? Yes, we’re now Comic-Con geeks and we preview our trip at the end of July. PUSHING DAISIES, MOONLIGHT, BIONIC WOMAN and other Fall Shows.

Ducky Does COMIC-CON

Comic-ConAs you’ve maybe heard me mention in one or two posts, I’m taking my first trip to San Diego’s COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL in two weeks.

Comic-Con has moved beyond the manga lovin’, furry wearing, swoard bearing, trekkies you’re thinking about right now. It’s more than a comic book convention. It’s a sci-fi convention as well. That doesn’t make it sound any less geek central does it? It’s turning into a Sci-Fi/Horror/Fantasy Film and TV Convention as well. Sound better? I thought so.

As you know, I’m one of the people that runs The Independent Film Festival of Boston (shout out Nancy, Brian, and Christine who regularly read the blog and are my cohorts) and obviously you know I’m a big TV geek. The chance to see panel discussions, meet creators of film and tv shows I love, see sneak previews of films and tv shows I love is just too big. I must go!

GMMR and I are shacking up in San Diego for the week and we’ll be meeting up with Rae, The TV Addict, Seat42f and many other tv bloggers (as well as 250,000 of our closest and scariest friends) to cover all things fall tv! We’re also hoping to do a huge TV Bloggers Podcast or two!

What shows are gonna be there? The list is big and here are the ones I plan on attending in some capacity.

TORCHWOOD (BBC America’s spin-off of Doctor Who)
LOST
REAPER
MOONLIGHT
24
CHUCK
PUSHING DAISIES
BIONIC WOMAN
TVGuide’s Hot List and Super Women
HEROES
KYLE XY
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
SUPERNATURAL
SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES
SARAH SILVERMAN PROJECT
BUFFY’s 10th Anniversary
TIN MAN
The 4400
JERICHO

Granted some of these panels overlap so there will be a few that get missed but TV wise, this is my dream list. There are also a number of film events that I want to attend.

Paramount Studios Presentation, Lionsgate Presentation, FANBOYS (with Kristin Bell), Warner Bros Films, 20th Century Fox, Shoot Em Up, Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN!!!!!, Rogue/Focus films, The Incredible Hulk with Ed Norton and many more.

Kinda crazy, huh?

Are any of you guys going? What do you want me to find out or meet or see while I’m there? Let me know.

Fall Recasts

Here we go gang, the shows are gearing up to begin filming and the networks are beginning to tinker with their new fall pilots. So far this week we’ve learned of three recasts and while some of it is old news, I thought I’d bring you the latest.

PRIVATE PRACTICE:
Remember how excited everyone was to see the new Grey’s Anatomy spin-off? Remember how excited everyone was to see an Alias alum finding yet another show? Remember watching the quasi-pilot and finding zero chemistry between said Alias alum and the shows uber star Kate Walsh? Yeah, no need to worry any more because ABC has recast the role of Naomi Bennett. While I love me some Evil Francie, Merrin Dungey just didn’t seem to work in that Grey’s episode. She was angry and stilted and a little too cute to be backup for Addison. For all the scoop and to see who’s replacing Francie, head on over to GiveMeMyRemote.com

MOONLIGHT:
This is great news for all the fans of Veronica Mars and the shirtless Jason Dohring! The old geezer role of Josef, who was originally played by a man in his 60s I believe. To go for the girls and gays, they obviously went for JDoh. Dohring will play Josef, an ancient vampire who is confidante to Mick (the main character). Unlike Mick, the eternally young, wealthy and mischievous Josef relishes his immortality. So basically its Logan Echolls with fangs!

BIONIC WOMAN:
NBC’s super strong fall pilot BIONIC WOMAN is in the midst of a mini-retooling. Jamie Sommers has a deaf sister Becca played by Arrested Development’s Anne, who? Anne, who? Oh her… Anyhoo, they’ve decided to go in a different direction with the sister and current actress Mae Whitman is out. No word on who’s next or if the sister will even be deaf any longer. Stay tuned.

    Bionic Woman’s Michelle Ryan Interview

Bionic Woman NBCThe good folks over at IGN (shout out to fellow Supernatural Set Visitor) have an interview up with the new Bionic Woman Michelle Ryan. As you know, this is one of my most anticipated shows for the fall season and the pilot delivers in spades so right now I’m on the hunt for any and all things Bionic Woman.

Wanna know if the newest British Import Michelle Ryan watched the very American original? Want confirmation that of course Michelle Ryan was on Eastenders? Hell I’ve been on Eastenders… okay I’ve not been but seriously every Brit has. Does she like sticky dots all over her body (grosso’s get your heads out of the gutters)? And finally does she have a girl crush on Battlestar’s Katee Sackhoff?

Head on over to Eric Goldman’s interview with Michelle Ryan.

Katee Sackhoff on Bionic Woman and BSG: Double Duty

    Katee Sackhoff

At this week’s Sci-Fi Channel Battlestar Galactica “All Access Event”, the big draw seems to be the smokin’ hot Katee Sackhoff. Bionic Woman is one of the most talked about shows for the Fall over on NBC and with Battlestar announcing their last season NBC/Universal is carting Sackhoff out like the second coming of Girl Christ that kicks a lot of ass and can fly a raptor if needed?

Here is a quick video of Katee Sackhoff from the Battlestar Galactica “All Access Event” where she talks about Bionic Woman.

When asked about being on two shows at once she exclaimed “Holy shit I’m gonna be tired.” She reveals that Battlestar Galactica and Bionic Woman are shooting on the same lot and that there’s talk of getting her her very own suped up golf cart to travel around from stage to stage on.

Yes she will be filming both at the same time and she would only confirm that she’s on more than one episode but less than fifteen episodes because they were only picked up for thirteen.

    Sneaky Starbuck/Sarah Covus.

    ‘Bionic Woman’ Pilot: First Thoughts

    Bionic Woman NBC

While I can’t write a full review of NBC’s new Fall show Bionic Woman, I can tell you that it rocks incredibly hard and kicks some major frakkin’ ass!

Bionic Woman lives up to every expectation I had for it. Coming from David Eick, one of the geniuses behind Battlestar Galactica, I knew it would more than likely be a slam dunk and seriously… it is!

Yes Katee Sackhoff is in the pilot and yes she is amazingly hardcore and badass but I’m happy to report that she is not the only BSG’er in the mix. Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrol) and Baltar’s Lawyer, Romo Lampkin (actor Mark Sheppard) are also involved. We can only hope that with the end of BSG in sight, more and more of our favorites from Galactica will jump over to Bionic Woman. Know who else is in the show? Ann (Who?) Egg, er Ann from Arrested Development.

I will quickly say this, mark my words… Michelle Ryan will be a huge star after this show blasts off. She’s incredibly beautiful, soft, sweet, and swift with the ass whoopin’. Geeks everywhere will be wetting themselves for her. You go girl!

Click here to see some sneak peek Bionic Woman videos and let the legions of fans begin uniting.

‘Bionic Woman’ and ‘Chuck’ Deemed Family Friendly?

The Family Friendly Programming Forum just released their list of new shows for the Fall 2007 TV Season and they give thumbs up to two of my most anticipated shows, NBC’s Bionic Woman and Chuck.

I’m not quite sure what criteria the FFPF use to pick their shows because I just watched the pilot episodes of both Bionic Woman and Chuck and one of them is quite dark, violent, and bloody… can you guess which one?

    Bionic Woman Videos

The Bionic Woman will premiere on NBC this Fall but hot damn if a bunch of videos haven’t already made their way onto the internet. Not only are we introduced to the British sensation, Michelle Ryan, that is taking over the role of Jamie Sommers, we get to see a glimpse at her finding out the news that a good portion of her body has been replaced by machine.

Oh yeah and we get to see her and Starbuck Katee Sackhoff go toe to toe with some girl on girl Bionic action.

Feast your eyes on the Bionic Woman preview clips and let me know what you think!

Who’s smelling the next great female kick ass actions star? Hells Yeah!!!

And in case you are too young to remember the Sleep Number lady (Lindsay Wagner to the rest of us old folks) as the original woman of bionics check out this promo clip from 1976! God I loved this show. Could her and Lee Majors have been a hotter couple?

    Katee Sackhoff in Bionic Woman

Katee Sackhoff Bionic WomanThe rumor mill is spreading online like a California Wildfire about whether or not Katee Sackhoff’s appearance in the pilot for The Bionic Woman (on NBC) means she’ll be a recurring villian throughout the series.

Above is a picture from the LATimes website, a screencap of Starbuck Sackhoff as a badass and “the first” bionic woman.

With Battlestar Galactica beginning the filming of their 4th and final season, Katee Sackhoff could be free to swing on over to BSG Producer David Eick’s other show full of bionics.

*Update: Video of Sackhoff and the pilot of The Bionic Woman are found here.

    NBC Announces Fall Lineup

    NBC

NBC was first to kick off UPFRONTS! This is the week where every network blows their load and announces the new shows and lineups for the upcoming Fall TV season.

Of the new shows NBC has to offer, I’m only interested in the following two dramas and one comedy.

    Life NBC
    LIFE (Wednesday’s 10pm)
It’s about some guy that gets a second chance at life. Fine, not the best concept but the supporting cast is great. Sexy (last seen as a lesbo) Sarah Shahi, Deadwood (and Juliet’s sister on LOST) alum Robin Weigert, and Adam Arkin join Damian Lewis for what will hopefully be a good show.

    Lipstick Jungle NBC
    LIPSTICK JUNGLE (Sunday’s 10pm)
Sure Candace Bushnell is behind this show and its kinda like a sequel to Sex & The City but PPD-Survivor Brooke Shields stars along with Kim Raver (Audrey from 24) and Lindsey Price (hello, 90210 - but sadly still not Emily Valentine) will be working it as the NYC power women who I’m sure are looking for love and companionship in all the wrong places.

    The IT Crowd NBC
And the only Comedy I’m even remotely interested in stars one of my TV Crush’s JOEL MCHALE (The Soup on E! - So Meaty) and it’s called The IT Crowd. Granted, I was into it by title alone because I used to love that movie The IN Crowd and for a minute I thought maybe it was a show based on that movie. But, then I realized that Joel McHale’s in it and whatever he’s doing, I’m all about it.

I’m semi-interested in BIONIC WOMAN because well, let’s face it… it’s the BIONIC WOMAN and I had her lunchbox as a kid.
