What TV Show Should I Download?

As you know, Comic-Con is this coming Thursday and the following week I’ve got some traveling to do as well. That means lots of time on airplanes. To be exact, there are 4, 5 or 6 hour flights in the next two weeks and I need something to watch!

What Show Should I Download From iTunes?

  • Psych (Season 1)
  • The Starter Wife
  • Bones (Season 1)
  • Jericho (Finish Season 1)
  • Kyle XY (Finish Season 1)

Do we need two karaoke shows? We dissect SPELLING BEE and DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE continues to dominate the summer and we talk about our new favorites.

A little TRANSFORMERS talk? Sure, just a bit. COMIC-CON? Yes, we’re now Comic-Con geeks and we preview our trip at the end of July. PUSHING DAISIES, MOONLIGHT, BIONIC WOMAN and other Fall Shows.

Ducky Does COMIC-CON

Comic-ConAs you’ve maybe heard me mention in one or two posts, I’m taking my first trip to San Diego’s COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL in two weeks.

Comic-Con has moved beyond the manga lovin’, furry wearing, swoard bearing, trekkies you’re thinking about right now. It’s more than a comic book convention. It’s a sci-fi convention as well. That doesn’t make it sound any less geek central does it? It’s turning into a Sci-Fi/Horror/Fantasy Film and TV Convention as well. Sound better? I thought so.

As you know, I’m one of the people that runs The Independent Film Festival of Boston (shout out Nancy, Brian, and Christine who regularly read the blog and are my cohorts) and obviously you know I’m a big TV geek. The chance to see panel discussions, meet creators of film and tv shows I love, see sneak previews of films and tv shows I love is just too big. I must go!

GMMR and I are shacking up in San Diego for the week and we’ll be meeting up with Rae, The TV Addict, Seat42f and many other tv bloggers (as well as 250,000 of our closest and scariest friends) to cover all things fall tv! We’re also hoping to do a huge TV Bloggers Podcast or two!

What shows are gonna be there? The list is big and here are the ones I plan on attending in some capacity.

TORCHWOOD (BBC America’s spin-off of Doctor Who)
LOST
REAPER
MOONLIGHT
24
CHUCK
PUSHING DAISIES
BIONIC WOMAN
TVGuide’s Hot List and Super Women
HEROES
KYLE XY
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
SUPERNATURAL
SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES
SARAH SILVERMAN PROJECT
BUFFY’s 10th Anniversary
TIN MAN
The 4400
JERICHO

Granted some of these panels overlap so there will be a few that get missed but TV wise, this is my dream list. There are also a number of film events that I want to attend.

Paramount Studios Presentation, Lionsgate Presentation, FANBOYS (with Kristin Bell), Warner Bros Films, 20th Century Fox, Shoot Em Up, Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN!!!!!, Rogue/Focus films, The Incredible Hulk with Ed Norton and many more.

Kinda crazy, huh?

Are any of you guys going? What do you want me to find out or meet or see while I’m there? Let me know.

Jericho Reruns All Summer Long

Jericho Renewed

First y’all went “nuts” and now CBS is going another step toward hardcore support of the little show that could… come back from an apocalypse… JERICHO.

If you’ve missed any of Jericho, or if you’re like me and watched the first handful and then got bogged down by the fall television schedule and let this slide, then here is your chance to watch it all, from the beginning.

CBS will air reruns of Jericho all summer long on Friday nights at 9pm!  Here’s what CBS just sent out as a press release to us bloggers:

JERICHO, CBS’s drama about how residents of a small, peaceful, Kansas town band together to survive in the wake of a nuclear explosion, will return to the Network beginning Friday, July 6 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT).  Rebroadcasts of episodes from the first season will air in the Friday, 9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT time period for the remainder of the summer.

JERICHO, which last week received a seven episode mid-season order following an impassioned display of fan support, will return on July 6 with a rebroadcast of the pilot episode.

On July 13, CBS will present back-to-back broadcasts beginning with “Return to Jericho” (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), which recapped the first 11 episodes, followed by episode 12, “The Day Before” (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), which launched “Jericho’s” spring return.

The remaining summer broadcasts will consist of episodes 13–22, in which tensions continue to escalate between Jericho and the neighboring town of New Bern as they battle the Kansas winter, dwindling resources and the uncertainty of a new world. The citizens of Jericho must now find a way to unite against these hardships, working together to preserve their community and their way of life as they prepare for an all out battle for survival in the season finale.

9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT            JERICHO (Pilot)

9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT            JERICHO (Spring Return)

Jericho Could Return In October

Jericho RenewedThe Pittsburg Post-Gazette has an interview with JERICHO Exec. Producer Stephen Chobsky since the announcement by CBS that Jericho was saved from sudden death.

“It was 100 percent the fans,” Chbosky said in a phone call yesterday. “It means a great deal to me that the viewers actually had an impact. I think that’s pretty inspiring and I’ll be grateful forever for it.”

“A woman in Washington, D.C., was the leader of the campaign,” Ingram said. “I thought we had a snowball’s chance in hell, but we led a high-road campaign. Because of my experience in radio, they sent me out there as a spokesperson.”

“We need to be as supportive of the show in reruns and when it comes out on DVD as we were vocal about its cancellation,” said Ingram, who intends to return to work in a few weeks.

“It’s a lower budget, there’s less money for guest stars, less money for recurring cast, we’re trying to make the numbers work right now,” he said. “In season two we want to investigate and explore Cheyenne and a line producer could say, if we explore Cheyenne, we’ll never be able to afford it and Cheyenne may come to Jericho now.”

With a short seven-episode order, Chbosky promises, “You don’t have to stretch anything out. It’ll be seven episodes with a great cliffhanger at the end.”

Uh-oh! Another cliffhanger? What if the show’s canceled again?

Chbosky said his understanding is “Jericho” will be the first midseason replacement on CBS, meaning it will likely premiere before the end of the year, allowing writers time to script an ending if the ratings are again low.

“We know how to wrap up the show if we have to,” he said. “Ultimately it will depend when they put us on the schedule, but it could be as early as October and in that case we will have time to wrap it up if necessary.”

Jericho Renewed: A CBS Miracle

Jericho Renewed

JERICHO survives the apocalypse known as Upfronts and Nina Tassler surrenders! CBS just sent this to its online press:

To the Fans of Jericho:

Wow!

Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.

As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of “Jericho” for mid-season next year. In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more “Jericho,” we will need more viewers.

A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow. It needs to grow on the CBS Television Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.

We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.

At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that “Jericho” will return to our schedule. However, in the interim, we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes re-broadcasting “Jericho” on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.

On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of “Jericho” in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.

Sincerely,

Nina Tassler
President, CBS Entertainment

P.S. Please stop sending us nuts :)

That is amazing! The Jericho fans are a mad rabid crew and we need to employ them for all future campaigns. Way to go guys! 7 episodes at mid-season is wonderful and the possibility is there for more. Seriously, could the fans ask for anything more? This is really incredible from a fan movement standpoint and it honestly inspires me!
