HARRY POTTER’s LEGAL: Happy Birthday Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe

As of today, July 23rd Harry Potter himself, actor Daniel Radcliffe is legal. Let the worshipping begin. Good lord, not so tweens just got excited and NAMBLA members just went limp.

The boys had a busy couple weeks. World Premieres of HP5, the release of Book 7, and a Bday on top of it. Hope that $50 million for the final two movies bought him some good times this past weekend.

I’m loving the new Harry Potter but please do not post anything about it on here. I’ll cut ya, put a hex on ya, send Looney Lovegood to your house, or assign Kreacher to you. I beg of you.

SUPERNATURAL Spoilers: Kripke Sets Us Straight

Supernatural The CW

This weekend, TVGuide’s Pooper Scooper Michael Ausiello got to sit down with SUPERNATURAL Creator and Exec. Producer Eric Kripke to hash out some of the online rumors that are spreading.

It all began when casting of two female “regulars” was announced. Fans freaked the frak out! How could Kripke introduce two “love interests”? How can they mess up the dynamics of the show? How could they, how could they, how could they? I didn’t think anything because I wanted to know more about these girls. Who are these two women coming to possibly temp our beloved Winchester boys?

Ruby (played by Katie Cassidy) is a demon hunter who’s a bit of a loose cannon. Bela (love the name btw - played by Lauren Cohen) is a sort of demon arms dealer. She works in amulets and other magical trinkets on the black market.

So, what does Eric Kripke have to say about these girls and what does he have to say to all of us rabid fans?

Eric Kripke: First of all, I love our fans. I love them to death. I love how passionate they are. But they tend to worry unnecessarily. They tend to get stressed before they have a chance to judge the finished product. We are so conscious and aware of our fans. We’re making the show for the fans; we’re not making the show for the network. We would never do anything to betray them. I’m not saying we’re perfect. I’m not saying we don’t make mistakes. But we’re very conscious and aware. And when we do make mistakes, we course-correct. So if I can get any message to them, it’s, ‘Don’t worry. We’re making choices based on what’s best creatively for the show.

Kripke: …The trick, we feel, is to introduce them as fleshed-out characters with their own inner lives, and then see what develops. And the other thing is, the girls are very separate and very different. And very rarely are they in the same episode, because they’re each serving very different story lines. Ruby (Katie Cassidy) is this demon hunter, who is ruthless and a little crazy and rough around the edges, and doesn’t share the same moral conscience that either of the boys share. A little unhinged in that way. There’s going to be a big twist about Ruby very early on. As early as Episode 2 you’re going to learn something very fascinating about Ruby.

And what about Bela?
Kripke: Bela (Lauren Cohan) is actually something we never presented on Supernatural before, which is someone who lives in this world who actually isn’t a hunter. She’s a thief and a mercenary. And all of these amulets and magical objects that the boys are always stealing and using to fight creatures are actually worth a lot of money. And there’s someone to buy and sell them. And she’s really not interested in the altruistic or obsessed or revenge-minded motives of hunting. She’s interested in a free-market economy and making a buck. She’s in it for herself. That’s someone they’ve really never come across before. ‘I don’t really care if you stop that ghost, I want that amulet,’ which if she disappears with it, the boys are screwed.

DAMAGES on FX: Ducky’s First Thoughts

DAMAGES premiers Tuesday, July 24th on FX and I have 4 words for you all. MUST SEE FRAKKIN’ TV! This is not your parent’s procedural or crime drama; DAMAGES is an intense, involved, smart and really dark psychological thriller.

Damages FX

Glenn Close heads up the stellar cast which includes Rose Byrne, Ted Danson, Tate Donovan, Zeljko Ivanek, Casey Siemasko and more. Ruthless barely scratches the surface of how you would describe the high powered litigator Close plays. Patty Hewes can be compared to Meryl Streep’s sinister Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada but in doing so it almost weakens the character of Patty Hewes. Yeah, she’s that hardcore.

DAMAGES is a legal thriller set in the world of New York City high-stakes litigation. The series, which provides a view into the true nature of power and success, follows the turbulent lives of Patty Hewes, the nation’s most revered and reviled high-stakes litigator, and her bright, ambitious, protégé Ellen Parsons as they become embroiled in a class action lawsuit targeting the allegedly corrupt Arthur Frobisher, one of the country’s wealthiest CEOs. As Patty battles with Frobisher and his attorney Ray Fiske, Ellen Parsons will be front and center witnessing just what it takes to win at all costs, as it quickly becomes clear that lives, as well as fortunes, may be at stake.

That’s the description the network has released for the show. What it doesn’t tell you is that the Frobisher case is only the tip of the iceberg. This will not be a case of the week show. There is a central case with a very dark overarching mystery tied into every character on the show not to mention the high profile Frobisher case.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Renewed

It’s official, next summer we once again will have our summer obsession back. SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE has been renewed for a 4th season!

The Next Food Network Star Winner: Amy Finley

The Next Food Network Star Season 3 concluded tonight and it named San Diego’s AMY FINLEY as it’s winner. I was psyched because Amy was my pick for the last couple weeks. I was a little worried when she tried to quit a couple weeks back, I thought that might even work against her in the popular vote. I’m happy to say I was wrong.

Amy Finley

The Gourmet Next Door prevailed and we’ll see Amy Finley’s new show on The Food Network come Fall 2007.

I know that there’s been talk about Amy leaving her husband, etc. but there was no evidence of the husband in tonight’s finale nor in the clips from Amy at home. She lives on a hippy-esque commune with her whole family so those kids are well looked after, noone worry about that. I don’t know what her personal sitch is and frankly, don’t give a damn. She’s not giving parenting or relationship advice, she’s cooking and I could care less if she was a seal clubber; she’s got a magnetic personality and I think she’ll make a good addition to the network.

Can we talk about how bloated the show was? This was as bad as an Idol finale with all the fluff thrown in. I did like seeing all the contestants back, even Jag. Anyone not think Jag and Paul are brokeback mountain’ing it? For reals, they’re so all over each other. I half expected Courtney Love to throw her shoe across the room and steal the spotlight from the love birds.

Marc Summers? Really? I was kind of upset to see him hosting the finale. Alton would have been a better choice, or just have the judges host the hour long broadcast.

Anyone else wish that Adrien would have been smothered by all those balloons? I can’t stand to hear him, see him, nothing. He’s so annoying. But luckily he’s had his own show on public access for three years now. Ugh.

Overall, I was so impressed with this show and it really did take over as my favorite summer cooking show. Top Chef has a lot to live up to if its going to fill the void left behind by The Next Food Network Star.

Congratulations Amy Finley, see you in the fall.

Exclusive PUSHING DAISIES Comic Book

Here’s a sneak peek at the Comic-Con exclusive PUSHING DAISIES Comic Book cover. As you know Pushing Daisies is the best new show of the fall season, I’ve proclaimed it so and I don’t lie. Often. In this case, I’m def not lying.

I’ll be attending Comic-Con next weekend and cannot wait to get all the gossip and scoop from the Pushing Daisies panel, and this comic-book is just an added perk.

This weekend I will post my thoughts on the first two episodes of FX’s brand new psychological thriller series DAMAGES starring Glenn Close, Ted Danson, Tate Donovan and more.

DAMAGES FX

A legal thriller set in the world of New York City high-stakes litigation. Swing on back this weekend for my thoughts on the show that you’re sure to be hooked on.

Missing HARRY POTTER Already

The sadness at losing the Harry Potter world forever after the Deathly Hallows is released tonight is kind of creepy. I’m feeling it and there’s nothing I can do about it.

I’d like to sum up my feelings with the following lyrics from one of our seminal recording artists:

I hope you know
I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It’s personal
My self and I
We’ve got some straightening out to do

And I’m gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I’ve got to get a move on with my life

It’s time to be a big girl now
And big girls don’t cry

I’ve loved her since we were lit’luns on KIDS INCORPORATED in 1984. Stacy Ferguson, girl work it! God I had the biggest crush on her and her little blue eyes. It was Stacy Ferguson and Martika for my TV girl crushes; Alasdair from You Can’t Do That on Television and BMX’er Mandy Marquart from Canada that got me through my formative years.

Who knew I’d be a homo? Loving Martika, a boy from YCDToTV, and a butch girl that rides bikes. Not to mention me singing “Careless Whisper” at the top of my lungs with a curtain wrapped around my waist for visual effect. My parents had a lot to deal with!

Hok and Anya Join So You Think You Can Dance Tour

Well, it appears that Mary Murphy notified both Hok Konishi and Anya Garnis that they will be alternates on So You Think You Can Dance’s 50+ city tour this fall!

“The two who went out today will be the alternates on the tour,” says judge Mary Murphy. “We always have to have two or three alternates go along, so I don’t think the fans are going to be disappointed in that department. Hok will be out there by popular demand. And I think Anya will be there, too, if they’ll both sign up to do it. And I’m sure they will.”

Mary told TV Guide’s Deborah Starr Seibel this and more last night. Last year, you’ll remember that Jessica and Jaymz were the alternates and it was great seeing them again. Fingers crossed that they both sign on.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Day!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Wow, it’s been two years and five days since the last Harry Potter Day and I’m frakkin’ excited for tonight! I don’t know about you, but the anticipation building for the final installment of the Harry Potter books is out of control. This morning on the subway I finished book 6 for the 3rd time and still got a little teary eyed when Ron and Hermione tell Harry that no matter what they’re behind him and will fight Voldemort (not Danny Tidwell in this case, for those of you keeping track). Those are good friends.

Are you all attending any Potter parties tonight? Are you waiting up and standing in line for the 12:01am release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

You know my crazy ass is! I’ll be attending two Potter themed events this evening. First up is Harvard Square which is turning into Hogwarts Square for the night. The historic Harvard Yard and its Deathly Hallowed halls of academia are hosting an outdoor concert with Harry and the Potters as well as Draco and the Malfoys. All the restaurants and shops in Harvard Square will be serving Potter themed meals, drinks, etc. for the kids and me. That’s until 10pm.

Then its back to my side of the river for Brookline’s Potterpalooza. The best independent bookstore in the city, Brookline Booksmith will be where I pick up my book tonight. Coolidge Corner will be going Potter crazy with scavenger hunts, trivia games, wand making, and much more. My home away from home, The Coolidge Corner Theatre, will somehow be suffering through 14,000,000 kids coming in and out all night as we’re part of the scavenger hunt and we’re having big cardboard cut outs of the characters for kids to take pictures with.

I pray that noone calls one of these kids a twunt or a douche or worse tonight. And I hope that “noone” isn’t me. We’re a surly bunch there at the Theatre.

If you’re in town, head on down to one of these events. If you’re in Coolidge Corner and don’t plan on going home and reading the book all night and into the tomorrow, you can come in for the Midnight PRINCE Sing-a-long. Should be major fun! All Prince Videos and a boucing ball on the screen. Get your dance on Darling Nikki!

I’ll end with proof that I’m a geek. A picture from 2005’s Half Blood Prince release taken at 12:15am.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

We were just leaving the Newtonville Books Potter Party that kicked ass! Author Tom Perrota (Election, Little Children) read from Potter books, Potter movies played on the big screen, and Kay Hanley played. I love her, and it was a great night! That’s frequent commenter Lil Jenn in the pic with me. We’re so cool… you don’t know!

BIG BROTHER 8: Week 2 Eviction

Big Brother 8 Joe
Big Brother 8 Eviction
Gonorrhea Joe Done Gone Home
I’ll miss his uber-gay personality and his bitchy behavior and his Nick stalking flirtation but I will not miss those pepperoni nipples. Let it be known. Joe is the first male evicted from the Big Brother 8 Household and I guess it had to happen.

The important thing that came out of tonight’s live episode was the fact that Kail’s whole alliance voted against her. What’s up with that huh? Can’t wait to see the fallout from that switcheroo, unless it’s already been established that she knew they were voting another way. Damn live feeders…

Daniele’s hair, Farrah Fawesome tonight! The feathered flip was hot. It took away from her Skeletor bone structure and actually softened her bone protruding features. Good for you.

Something odd struck me tonight. It was Zach’s face. What’s up with that wrinkled mess? He’s semi-scar to look at, don’t you think?

The Head of Household competition went just as I dreamt it would. Who is the exact opposite of Jen? Who’s Jen’s biggest enemy in the house? Who’s mission is it to make Jen’s life hell? EVIL DICK! I absolove that this man won HOH this week. Instantly I can guess that his two nominees will be hella-tard Jen and crappy Kail.

I love Big Brother!

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Results: Top 10 Revealed

So You Think You Can Dance

So You Think You Can Dance Announce The Top 10 Dancers!

Wow, tonight’s show was extremely hard to watch. I was a nervous mess from 9:40 on and as I type this I’m still a little jittery.

Here were the Bottom 3 Couples this week:
Danny Voldemort and Anya Garnis
Hok Konishi and Jaimie Goodwin
My BF Neil Haskell and Lauren Gottlieb

I was off by one couple but I did pretty well in my predictions based on the Top 12 Performances. I was sad to see the amazing Hok Konishi go, as well as Anya Garnis.

While the show has ended, I can’t help but wonder how the hell someone in particular is still in this competition. I’m sure you’re expecting me to say Voldemort, but that’s not it. It’s that shrew Lauren Gottlieb. While her solo tonight was pretty good, it stank of desperation (not Jaimie’s solo, thank you Nigel) and was a little too frantic and nervous for my liking.

Granted, I don’t love the girl and I guess I understand her staying and being more versatile than Anya but damn it hurt to see Anya go before Lauren. Did anyone else notice that she made way too much eye contact with the camera during the opening Jive number? She works a nerve.

There were moments of elation and hope when Voldemort was announced to be in the Bottom 3 but deep down I knew it was a crap vote to have him there. Based on this week’s performance, there was no way in hell he deserved to go but I still kind of wanted to see it happen.

I’m just 100% happy that I can breathe again knowing the My BF Neil Haskell has made it to the Top 10 SYTYCD Tour and that I’ll be able to molest attack meet him this fall. The boys damn cute and he’s fun and dorky and seriously that body is OOC! I heart him, as you know.

Glad they gave a shout-out to Emmy Nominees Wade Robson and Mia Michaels. They totes deserved it after those amazing routines.

*If you love SYTYCD, check out our latest TV Podcast where we talk heavily about our favorite dancers, and our love of all things SYTYCD.  Granted, it was recorded last week but it’s still fun.

I’m tired. Must sleep… or watch the premiere of MAD MEN.

CHUCK’s Zachary Levi Wins TCA Singing Bee

Apparently NBC’s screwball mix-mash “I’m making it up as I go along” karaoke show THE SINGING BEE hosted an NBC All-Star Karaoke Match and CHUCK’s Zachary Levi walked away with the trophy.

CHUCK (airing on NBC) from the warped mind of Josh Schwartz is one of my MUST SEE TV shows for the upcoming Fall season. The CHUCK PILOT Review I posted a month or two ago will give you some insight into how amazing this show is and hopefully convince you to watch.

Zachary Levi is just incredible and the TV crash is already starting. I cannot wait to see the whole cast at Comic-Con next week.

Here are pictures from this week’s NBC TCA event in Los Angeles. Zachary Levi, Sarah Lancaster, Adam Baldwin, Yvonne Strezechowski, and Joshua Gomez star.
